Cafe and Social Chess

For anyone who is interested in tournament chess, but can't make it to the Southern Suburbs Chess Club, we recommend either the Perth Chess Club (Wednesday evenings, Woodvale), the Metropolitan Chess Club (Thursday evenings, Nedlands), or the many weekend tournaments run by the Chess Association of WA.

If you are relatively new to chess and not yet motivated by tournaments, cafe chess and social clubs are great ways to meet new people and get involved in local chess. Here is a list of social chess clubs, which provide opportunities for people to play friendly games and/or receive tuition.

Fees vary between clubs, but are generally charged on a per session basis, rather than as an annual membership fee. Contact the organisers if you would like to find out more.
